Afrobeat Legend, Femi Kuti, Sets New World Sax Record!

Last week, Nigerian afrobeat legend, Femi Kuti reportedly broke the World Record where he was supposedly made “the longest continuous note on a saxophone using the circular breathing method” as he played for 46mins 38secs non stop.

Nigerians celebrated this victory but it was short-lived as News revealed that one Van Burchfield from United State of America had played for 47 mins, making him the highest record holder.

This revelation didn’t phase the afrobeat legend who knows the greatness in him and can do more that 47 mins, so he hit his sax again, on the 14th of May and this time, the record was shattered with over 4 minutes creating a new record as the holder of “the longest continuous note on a saxophone using the circular breathing method” with 51 mins 35 secs.

This announcement was made by Femi Kuti himself on Twitter, supported by author and daughter in-law of Nigerian Nobel Laureate,(Prof. Wole Soyinka) Lola Shoneyin who stated that she was there when this history was made.
